Terms of Service

Last updated · May 2026

1. Who we are

Russian with Julia is an online Russian language teaching service provided by Yulia, a professional Russian teacher. Bookings, payments and contracts are processed through Twój Startup (the “Provider”), a Polish business incubator that acts as the legal seller and issues invoices on behalf of the teacher. Detailed legal and accounting information about the Provider is available on request at the contact email below.

For any question regarding these terms, please contact us at verbiloulia785@gmail.com.

2. Services we offer

We sell three categories of services on this website:

  • Introductory lesson — a single 30-minute one-on-one online lesson held over Google Meet, where the teacher assesses your level and builds a personalized learning plan.
  • Lesson packs — packs of 5 or 10 one-on-one online lessons (60 minutes each), held over Google Meet at times agreed directly with the teacher by email.
  • Video courses — pre-recorded video lessons available online via your account on russianwithjulia.com/courses once purchased.

3. Prices and payment

All prices are displayed in US dollars (USD) and include any applicable taxes. Payment is processed securely by Stripe; we do not store your card details. Once payment is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email containing your purchase details and these terms.

4. Booking and validity

Introductory lesson: you choose the date and time at checkout. A Google Calendar invitation with the Google Meet link is sent to you automatically once payment is confirmed.

Lesson packs: it is your responsibility to schedule your lessons within the validity period by contacting the teacher directly by email. Lessons not scheduled within the validity period are forfeited (no refund, no extension).

  • 5-lesson pack — valid for 1 month from the date of purchase.
  • 10-lesson pack — valid for 2 months from the date of purchase.

Video courses: lifetime access from the date of purchase, available to stream on your account at any time.

5. Cancellation and rescheduling

Because lessons are individual time slots reserved exclusively for you, the following cancellation policy applies:

  • Cancellation 24 hours or more before the lesson: free reschedule, no fee.
  • Late cancellation (less than 24 hours’ notice) or no-show: the lesson is charged in full and counts against your pack. This applies even in case of sudden illness or emergency, as the time slot can no longer be offered to another student.

We kindly ask you to give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule, so the time slot can be offered to another student.

6. Cancellation by the teacher

If the teacher needs to cancel a lesson, you will be notified as early as possible and we will reschedule the lesson at a mutually convenient time. If rescheduling is not possible, you will be offered an additional +1 hour of lesson as compensation, on top of the originally booked session.

7. Refunds

Refunds are not provided in the following cases, as the service has either been delivered or the time slot reserved cannot be re-sold:

  • Lessons already taken (consumed) are not refundable.
  • Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice or no-shows are charged in full and not refundable.
  • Lessons not scheduled within the pack’s validity period are forfeited and not refundable.
  • Video courses are non-refundable once access has been granted, in line with EU consumer law for digital content (Article L221-28 13° of the French Consumer Code and equivalent provisions in your country).

For any claim regarding a payment dispute, please contact us by email before initiating a chargeback so we can resolve the issue directly.

8. Right of withdrawal (EU customers)

As an EU customer, you normally have a 14-day right of withdrawal for purchases made online. However, this right does not apply to:

  • Services that have been fully performed before the end of the withdrawal period, with your prior express consent.
  • Digital content (video courses) supplied not on a tangible medium, once you have given your express consent to immediate access and acknowledged the loss of your right of withdrawal.

By proceeding with payment, you acknowledge and accept that the service will start before the end of the 14-day withdrawal period and that you waive your right of withdrawal once a lesson has been delivered or video content accessed.

9. Your obligations

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate contact information (name, email) at checkout.
  • Connect to lessons on time using the Google Meet link provided.
  • Treat the teacher with respect during all interactions.
  • Not record, share, redistribute or resell any lesson, recording or video course content without prior written authorization.

10. Liability

The Provider commits to delivering lessons to the best of its ability. Liability is limited to the amount paid by the customer for the service in question. We are not liable for any indirect damages, loss of opportunity or technical issues outside of our control (internet outage on your side, Google Meet downtime, etc.).

11. Force majeure

Neither party will be held liable for failure to perform due to circumstances beyond reasonable control (illness, internet outage, power failure, force majeure events). In such cases, lessons will be rescheduled.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version applicable to your purchase is the one published on this page on the date of the order. Material changes will be communicated by email if you have an active pack with us.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Polish law (the country where the Provider, Twój Startup, is registered), without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence as an EU consumer. Any dispute that cannot be settled amicably will be brought before the competent Polish courts; as an EU consumer, you may also bring proceedings before the courts of your country of residence.

As an EU consumer, you also have the right to use the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
